I’ve always heard that The Zombies That Ate Pittsburgh is one of the better books on George Romero’s films. It covers Romero’s Living Dead masterpieces—Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and Day of the Dead—as well as cult favorites like Martin, The Crazies, and Creepshow.
Out of print and carrying a hefty cost, I’ve spent years looking for a reasonably priced copy. A few weeks ago I finally found one on Ebay that fit my budget and I grabbed it! It’s seen better days, but then again who hasn’t?
So far it’s living up to the hype, but that’s not actually what I wanted to share.

I was flipping through it, when I noticed something interesting sticking out of the appendix. It looks to me like a book check-out form for the New Jersey State Prison. I thought that was pretty wild. Considering the books condition, you have to wonder who’s read it and where it’s been.

I love a good used book, especially when it comes with writing in the margins and little artifacts tucked inside, hinting at other stories beyond what’s on the page.
What’s the most interesting thing you ever found inside a used book?
