Lots and lots of really interesting trailers dropping from TIFF 2026. Check out the trailer for Black Sunflowers (2026), a documentary by American filmmaker James Marcus Haney, collaborating with an esteemed Ukrainian crew, Black Sunflowers is a mosaic of Ukrainian youth, shuttling between the frontlines and civilian life.
This looks intense and heartbreaking. Incredible footage too. The title itself is a nod to the war-torn Ukrainian landscape and it’s iconic sunflower fields that have been burned by the ongoing war with Russia.
UPDATE: A few hours after posting this it seems the trailer has gone private. Hopefully that will change because the film looks fantastic. Would love to interview the filmmakers.
