What a year we’re having from iconic master directors! Check out the trailer for Andrey Zvyagintsev’s return to cinema, Minotaur (2026).

Loosely based on Claude Chabrol’s 1969 film The Unfaithful Wife and set in Russia just after the invasion of Ukraine, Minotaur tells the story of a successful company director who has arranged his life exactly the way he wants it, only to see it all start to fall apart as the Russian war machine comes looking for men and his marriage starts to fall apart at the same time.

Like other modern masters, Koreeda and Hamaguchi, Zvyagintsev brings a consistent style and vision to his films that feels like nobody else. The Return (2003), The Banishment (2007), Elena (2011), Leviathan (2014), and Loveless (2017) are all amazing. Beautiful. Heartbreaking. Eye-opening. Honest. Raw.

Minotaur hits theaters in the United States on November 20, 2026 .
