Cinematic Point Of View

Here it is. Our first look at Takashi Yamazaki‘s ‘Godzilla Minus Zero.” Check out the teaser trailer below. It’s been a long time coming.

I waited a few days before posting this. My first reaction to the trailer was pretty mixed. The visuals look incredible. Going in though, I was worried about the pandering to a global market hurting the film. Let’s be honest, the Godzilla franchise has a pretty solid track record of having some of the worst English speaking actors. The voice over in the opening moments did not avert my fears.

That said, I’ve gotten over myself and that line reading. My expectations have been impossibly high. I’ve watched this teaser trailer many times now. It is truly a teaser. Will there be a second monster? What’s the floating stuff? Is New York all a dream? I have absolutely no idea what’s going to happen in this movie. It gets full marks for pulling this off. And wouldn’t it be nice to go see a movie and be surprised?

I have full confidence that director Takashi Yamazaki will put together another unforgettable, emotional ride.

Nothing will beat ‘Godzilla Minus One.‘ I had no expectations going into that one. With ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ I’m just happy for another chance to get back into this Godzilla world and soak it all in.
