Cinematic Point Of View

Well, this is about the best news I could have hoped for on a Friday. Check out the release date poster for ‘Godzilla Minus Zero.’

According to a blog post on Godzilla.com, ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ will open in Japan on November 3, 2026 and November 6, 2026 in North America. The November 3rd date is special as it’s the same day that the original ‘Godzilla‘ was released in theaters and is now celebrate as Godzilla Day.

I’ve seen all sort of speculation about this poster and what it implies for the upcoming film. Some people see Hedorah in those clouds. Personally, I don’t see it, but I do see what could possibly look like the faint shape of King Ghidorah over the “zero” in the title. What do you think?

With this poster being in the clouds, I think it makes sense. From a marketing standpoint, I also feel like Ghidorah would be a pretty logical choice for a second kaiju, if that’s the direction they go. I seem to remember watching an interview director Takashi Yamazaki talking about how great an impact ‘Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster‘ had on his childhood.

Anyway, it’s all speculation. Maybe they’ll just focus on the effects of fallout and the black rain after a nuclear detonation. Who knows. I’m excited for whatever they have coming our way and even more pumped that it’s going to be released this year!
