Check out this trailer for Like Tears In The Rain , an upcoming documentary on the life of Rutger Hauer.
Iconic actor Rutger Hauer kept the outside world at arm’s length. Director, and goddaughter, Sanna Fabery de Jonge unravels the mystery surrounding Rutger and through private, never-before-seen footage, reveals a man who is even more fascinating than the roles he played.
It’s the documentary I didn’t know I needed.
I was a huge Rutger Hauer fan growing up and was crushed when he passed away. I remember renting everything I could find and back in the day. Blade Runner. Nighthawks. Spetters. Surviving The Game. Flesh+Blood. The Hitcher.
Man, I loved The Hitcher.

I picked up that beautiful 4K restoration that Second Sight put out a few months back and the film has literally never looked better.
When I was in high school, I even made a home movie version of that Eric Red classic, shooting on the Sony handycam around the neighborhood with some friends. I’m sure our neighbors were concerned for our mental health.
Anyway, I’m really looking forward to this documentary. I hope it gets a US release.
What are some of your favorite Rutger Hauer movies?
