Went on a short weekend getaway with the family. We stayed in a beautiful home overlooking Lake Cumberland. The weather was perfect. Lots of blue sky and green trees. The photo below was the view from our backporch.

This got me in the mood to revisit a great Japanese series I came across a few years back called ‘Pension Metsa.’ It’s about a guest house in the beautiful Nagano forest run by a woman named Tenko (Satomi Kobayashi).

In each episode a different new guest arrives. Solo travelers, old friends, and lost souls. It’s one of those super low key, no stakes shows where it feels like you’re just hanging out. Very relaxing.

Anyway, I love the show and the main theme. It always gets stuck in my head. It’s a song called “Flying Cat” by a Tokyo jazz fusion band called Schroeder-Headz with vocals by Taeko Onuki. Wish there was an official soundtrack.
