This teaser trailer for a new Kamen Rider AGITO movie showed up in my feed this morning. While there is no official english title, the Toei website is calling the film ‘Agito: Psychic War’. I also saw that this translates to ‘Agito: Superpower War” so if anyone can clear-up this title translation, please let me know.
Anyway, titles aside, the official plot synopsis reads “In a world where people awaken to supernatural powers, one ordinary police officer Makoto Hikawa stands against the chaos.” The lead role will be played by Kaname Jun, known for his role as Akechi Mitsuhide in the “Kingdom” film series. My first real introduction into the world of Kamen Rider was ‘Shin Kamen Rider’ a few years back and I’ve been a fan ever since. I’ve seen quite a bit of the Kamen Rider catalog since that screening, but I’ve only made way as far as the 80s and am unfamiliar with AGITO.
According to the description on this trailer, this new Kamen Rider AGITO movie is to celebrate the 55th Anniversary of Kamen Rider and to mark the 25th anniversary of ‘Kamen Rider AGITO,’ the most-watched Heisei Kamen Rider series in Japan. It’s hinted that many of the original cast members from ‘Kamen Rider AGITO‘ will be in this new film. Looks like I need to bone up on my AGITO.
‘Agito: Psychic War‘ is set for an April 2026 release in Japan with an international release date yet to be confirmed.
