Now this is a great way to start off the week! Check out the trailer for the brand new Patlabor series! It’s going to be 8 episodes compiled into a three-part theatrical release called ‘Mobile Police Patlabor EZY.’
According to the wiki, the new series is set in the 2030s where AI automation has made human-piloted Labors increasingly rare. Still, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police’s Special Vehicles Section 2 still operates and must confront new technological threats.
Man, I am sucker for a police procedural slice-of-life anime mecha show.
Patlabor sits as one of my all time favorite anime series. I love the characters and it’s low stakes action. Ordinary people doing extraordinary things. It’s kinda cozy and upbeat which hits a real sweet spot for me.
Here are some of the release dates I found. I’m not sure if these are US or overseas.
File 1: May 15, 2026 — first theatrical chapter.
File 2: August 14, 2026 — second installment.
File 3: March 2027 — final chapter.
