I love my ‘Godzilla: The Showa-Era Films’ Blu-ray collection from Criterion. It collects all fifteen of the Showa-era Godzilla films, made between 1954 and 1975. The artwork is awesome and appreciate the crazy, colossal deluxe packaging. I’m so happy it exists.

What I am not happy about is that the glue inside the disc casing slips melted during shipping, I suppose, and got all over several of the blu-ray discs and making the place you keep the discs unusable. I did not know it at the time as I did not immediately remove all of the discs or I could have probably returned it.

Thankfully, I was able to use a little rubbing alcohol and microfiber cloth to clean the discs and they still work perfectly. That still left me in a bind as the area where the discs should be stored is pretty much unusable.

In looking for some casing to store these discs I happened upon some really awesome fan made blu-ray cases. To be clear, these aren’t bootlegs discs, just custom fan-made replacement cases to store the original Criterion discs I already purchased.

Both cases conveniently store all of the discs in a regular size blu-ray case and have custom slipcovers maintaining the look and feel of the original.

Anyway, I just wanted to share that this sort of thing is out there because I imagine I’m not the only one to experience this issue with the Godzilla packaging. You have to love the Godzilla fan community. It’s a simple solution for those with a damaged box-set.
