Cinematic Point Of View

I’ve been listening to a lot of comic and manga podcasts lately while I work. I stumbled onto one called Maga Tak the other day and have been enjoying it quite a bit, especially the episodes on Taiyo Matsumoto’s work.

Here is a good one on Matsumoto’s Tokyo These Days, one of my favorite manga to come out in the past several years and one of the first books that started my manga collection.

Matsumoto’s ‘Tokyo These Days’ is a beautiful and moving meditation on an artist’s self-worth and the manga world market over the years. The story is quiet and thoughtful and his art style is unlike any other. It’s loose and expressive and full of life.

If you’ve never read him, I highly recommend picking up one of his books.
