I tend to buy comics on impulse—if something speaks to me, I go for it. That’s exactly what happened when I stumbled across The Right Place by Federico Zilli.

This beautifully illustrated and quietly powerful comic follows a young man as he helps his father navigate grief and mental health struggles after the death of his mother.
There are unanswered questions, buried guilt, and a mysterious road trip sparked by an unexpected encounter with a mystic.
One early panel really stuck with me: graffiti on a crumbling city wall reads, “Walls collapse, why shouldn’t I?” It hits at the book’s core—how easy it is to get lost in our minds, overwhelmed by the past or distracted by the future. It’s a feeling I’m all to familiar with. Collapse feels inevitable when we don’t stop and confront what’s inside.

Zilli’s art is minimal and loose, but full of emotion. Each frame feels intimate and raw, with a quiet tenderness running through it.
If you’re into introspective, emotionally resonant stories, I highly recommend The Right Place. You can follow Federico Zilli on Instagram and find his work on the Aces Weekly website.
