My oldest son and I started re-watching Attack on Titan, so he can get me back up to speed and we can FINALLY watch the final season. So much happens during the course of this show that he felt I need a refresher and he’s not wrong.
Anyway, now I have Hiroyuki Sawano‘s Attack on Titan season one theme song stuck in my head every day, hence this Soundtrack Spotlight.
I’ve been watching this show with him since 2013. Along with JoJo, this show holds a lot of fond memories of our time together. Nothing like witnessing shared trauma to bring a Dad and son closer.
Seriously, though I had forgotten how absolutely crushing some of the episodes are. The trauma is relentless but I love it. It’s one of those anime series that stands apart. The stellar soundtrack play a large part in that.
And here’s absolutely epic LIVE version of the opening theme from Attack on Titan season 1. I love that they have huge concerts for this sort of thing in Japan. Wish we had them in the US.
