Check out the trailer for the new Nicholas Cage movie The Surfer. When a man returns to his beach side hometown in Australia, he is humiliated in front of his teenage son by a local group of surfers who claim ownership over the secluded beach of his childhood.
This one looks like a solid a Cage movie. I love that he seems to be getting better scripts and productions again.
The trailer reminds make me think of an old Australian movie with Donald Pleasence called Wake To Fright, where a simple man is terrorized by a town full of violent drunks. I wonder if there is any connection or if it was an inspiration for The Surfer.
