Cinematic Point Of View

I watched director Nora Fingscheidt‘s incredible film The Outrun last week. It’s based on Amy Liptrot’s memoir about alcoholism and childhood trauma and stars Saoirse Ronan. The movie is easily one of the best films about recovering from substance abuse, and grappling with mental health, I’ve seen.

I’ll likely do a short write up on the movie sometime soon.

Meanwhile, I’ve been listening to the soundtrack by John Gürtler and Jan Miserre. It’s a haunting blend of ambient and earthy tones, with touches of folk influence that are the perfect mirror for the soundscape of the isolated and beautiful Orkney Islands setting.
