I ran across the trailer for a new movie called Dollhouse starring Masami Nagasawa and from the director of Wood Job! It looks like a bizarre and emotional rollercoaster ride.
The director’s film Wood Job! was an interesting mix of drama and humor, and Nagasawa is always good, so it should be worth a watch. Hope it gets a US release.
The story follows Yoshie (Masami Nagasawa) and her husband Tadahiko (Koji Seto), who are grieving the loss of their 5-year-old daughter, Mei. Yoshie finds solace in a doll resembling Mei, which she purchases at an antique market. As the couple welcomes a new daughter, Mai, they gradually lose interest in the doll. However, when Mai turns five and begins playing with it, a series of inexplicable events unfold, leading the family into a chilling mystery.
