If you have a computer, you’ve likely already seen the first teaser trailer for James Gunn’s new Superman film releasing in July 2025. And that’s okay. Here it is again.
I for one am excited to see James Gunn’s Superman reboot. I am excited to see what appears to be a lighter, more hopeful Superman return to the big screen. The world is such a mess, the last place I’m looking for more trauma is in my escapist cinema experience.
I’m excited to see a Superman film with giant monsters, Hawk people, and a super dog. It’s just the sort of nonsense that I need to shake off the shit storm the world sends every news cycle. Give us a chance to breathe.
Sorry for the negativeness in this post. It’s a side effect of reading too far in the comment sections on this trailer. The anger I’ve seen is astounding.
On the plus side, I’ve also read some incredibly touching comments. Deeply personal, heartfelt stories by people sharing memories, dreams, and wishes. Makes you feel like a kid again. That’s what I’m after with my superhero movies. Stories of inspiration. I just wish we didn’t have to wait until next summer.
Superman lives again and I feel inspired.
