It’s finally time to return to the zombie plagued world first built by Danny Boyle and Alex Garland! Check out the trailer for 28 Years Later hitting theaters in 2025.
It’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well.
In my book, 28 Days Later is a zombie masterpiece. The performances, the score, that early digital handheld filmmaking…all of it working together to create a simple yet unique and suspenseful zombie movie unlike any other during it’s time. It was also the film that catapulted the brilliant Cillian Murphy into the limelight.
The sequel, 28 Weeks Later, while not quite as excellent, upped the gore and action and has one of the most horrific and haunting opening sequences of any film I can remember.
With Alex and Danny returning to craft this new tale and a cast with the likes of Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Ralph Fiennes, I’m really looking forward 28 Years Later. How about you?
