Cinematic Point Of View

This image is from Black Blizzard by the legendary Yoshihiro Tatsumi. It tells the story of two convicts who are handcuffed together and escape after the train they are being escorted on crashes. It was his first full-length manga.

I love the sketchiness of this drawing. The simple composition and the lack of detail. Just enough. Like he had to quickly get this drawing out, so he might quickly capture the next one before it got away.

I’ve become deeply interested manga from 1950s, 60s, and 70s. My schedule is full right now so instead of writing about it, I just want to share images that catch my attention from creator’s I am discovering for myself.
