A Godzilla comic book series set in 1922 was not on my radar or wishlist that’s for sure. I have to admit it interests me more than the Godzilla superhero comic crossovers that have come out recently.
Writer/artist Tom Scioli and IDW’s Godzilla Monsterpiece Theatre is an upcoming 3 issue series features stories set around famous literary characters like Jay Gatsby, Sherlock Holmes, H.G. Well’s The Time Traveler, and Dracula.
In one of the issues, the Jay Gatsby lures the attention of Godzilla who takes to destroying the Gatsby estate during his party. Gatsby must team up with another famous literary icon to seek his revenge.
It’s just so strange I’m on board.
Godzilla comics were a favorite of mine as a kid. When my youngest son was learning to read we had a good time reading some of the modern Godzilla comics at bed time. Hopeful this new batch will be good.
Godzilla’s Monsterpiece Theater hits newsstands October 2024.
