I listen to a lot of film and tv soundtracks while working. I’ve always had a great passion for film scores. I think, from time to time, I’ll start dropping in a track or two from music I’ve been listening during the day.

This is one of those times.

Album Title: Master Keaton Soundtrack

Composer: Kuniaki Haishima

I love the music composed by Kuniaki Haishima for the 1998 animated series ‘Master Keaton,’ based on the manga by Naoki Urasawa. Haishima is a Japanese musician and composer known for his music in many other anime series including Monster, Macross Zero, Blue Gender, and Spriggan.

If you’ve never seen it, ‘Master Keaton’ is about Taichi Keaton, a half-British half-Japanese archaeologist and SAS veteran, who solves mysteries and investigates insurance fraud around the world. Throughout the series there are episodes that aren’t action based and focus more on Keaton’s family life. This track comes from one of those episodes and is very peaceful and calming. Great work track! Here’s a link to a playlist of more music from the series.

I am currently watching the show in the evenings and have about 8 episodes left before I finish. It’s so good. It might sound cliche, but it is a really underrated series I rarely hear anyone talk about. Wish it would get a proper Blu-Ray or digital release. I’ll likely do a write up on it soon.

Hope you enjoy the track!

  1. I’m glad someone else knows about Master Keaton and Kuniaki Haishima! Such an underrated series. I would also recommend Haishima’s other scores such as Neo Ranga, Gasaraki, and Monster which is from the same creator as Master Keaton of course!

    1. Honestly I feel the same way after reading your comment! So glad I’m not the only one enjoying this amazing show. I’ll have to check out those soundtracks you mentioned. Monster is of course already a favorite. I have not heard of those others.

      1. Sure thing. Monster is certainly a classic. Gasaraki is an underrated one and it is surprisingly more relevant to watch now with some of the subject matter.

    2. Okay I just found a Neo Ranga dub on YouTube and it looks awesome. My favorite era of anime and subject matter! Thanks for the suggestion! Man, I have too many shows on my list to watch.

      1. Nice! The soundtrack was great. I will say the first season was better though. The opening themes are pure fire.
