Pluto is hands down my favorite tv series from the past year.

Based on a manga, written and illustrated by Naoki Urasawa, the story of Pluto that takes place in the Universe of Astroboy. Pluto is a murder mystery set in a world where robots and humans have existed together for many years and a serial killer is murdering the top 7 most famous AI robots. Man oh man they cover a lot of ground on this show. Hate. Love. Compassion. War. Family. Humanity.

This is going to be one of the short posts without much detail. There are so many characters to love. So many heartbreaking moments and thrilling action scenes. Watch the show. Read the manga. You will love it.

You can find Pluto on Netflix if this sounds like your thing.

  1. I’ve been wanting to see this anime when I heard it was released. I liked Monster and Master Keaton, so I’m familiar with Urasawa’s work. This should be a great adaptation and I read parts of the manga which was a creative take on Astro Boy.

    1. Well if you like Urasawa I think you’ll love this for sure. While I was familiar with Astro Boy I had never read or seen it. This was my first time reading or viewing anything Urasawa related and it got me hooked and now diving into the world of manga. I’m on episode 52 of Monster and it’s just an incredible series. I ordered some DVD copies of Master Keaton to start when I finish Monster. The man is a genius. Hope you like Pluto and appreciate the comment!

      1. I feel like I would enjoy this. Good on you for checking out Urasawa’s works. That guy is very talented. On my film review blog, I even put Johan from Monster as my number one underrated anime villain ever and I could argue he’s one of the best animated villains of all time regardless of national origin of where it was made. It’s also been a while since I watched anything related to Osamu Tezuka and the last time I saw anything involving Astro Boy was the 00s anime remake.
